Social media marketing is a broad term used to identify marketing methods that may include using such website such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and others.

Social media type websites are broadly used to develop a more personal relationship with a client base and to create and reinforce brand recognition. There exist many levels of social media marketing. Some such as Twitter are based on very real time and proactive marketing strategies. Others are more subtle and passive, such as providing quality content through a blog. While social media can be a powerful tool, it can also become a huge time sink.
